San Marcos Area Youth Soccer (SMAYSO) promotes youth soccer in San Marcos and Wimberley, Texas and surrounding areas, including Martindale, Driftwood and Maxwell. The new Five Mile Dam Field Complex has enhanced our ability to fulfill our mission.
SMAYSO is a Texas non-profit, tax exempt organization formed to promote, foster and advance the cause of soccer for youth at all levels of play within its territory. It shall be the mission SMAYSO to educate, provide administrative service, promote, and stimulate interest in the game of soccer, with one purpose in mind: to ensure that each player has an enjoyable soccer experience while moving toward his or her personal goal.
Each season, SMAYSO ends with a celebration day. On this day each team plays 2 games, we provide jumpy castles, face painting and free meals for all SMAYSO players. When a team's games are completed we also hand out participation medals. It is a great way to celebrate the kids and their accomplishments!
We have two entry level clinics for new referees. This is ONLY for NEW referees. For re-certification you must do it online. No in-person is needed for re-certification anymore.
We are so glad to be getting the season underway. As of right now, we are looking at rain on Saturday morning, but as long as it is not severe (heavy rains or lightning) we will play all games as scheduled.
So, dress for the the weather! As we begin, below is some information that may everyone should know.
Parents and Coaches,
In the best interest of the players as well as the club, we have decided to postpone the start of the season. Games this weekend for U5-U12, scheduled for Sept. 22, are being moved to our scheduled bye week on October 13. While this was not our plan, weather forecasts as well as the cancellation of many evening practices have made this the best course of action for this weekend.
We have not yet closed the fields, so any team that would like to practice this evening is welcome to. If the rain holds out, unless you get a RainedOut text closing the fields, you are welcome to practice as well as on Saturday or Sunday. This is a good opportunity to remind everyone that RainedOut is the primary way that we communicate field closures. You may sign up here.
We look forward to getting this season started, but in an effort of make sure that it gets off on the right foot, we will now start on Sept. 29. Enjoy your weekend!
